This resource offers a thorough overview of smokeless tobacco and helps educators convey the following messages to students in middle grades: why people use smokeless tobacco, dangers of using smokeless tobacco, and how you can quit using smokeless tobacco.

First students will put their foot on a carpet square and see how far they can reach that foot in all directions. Second students will place their hand on the carpet square and see how far they can reach in all directions. Students will then sit on the carpet square and move their arms in different ways. Students will try circles with their arms. They will reach high and low and reach from a kneeling position. Students will then try to become the shape that the teacher calls out. Students will become letters and numbers that the teacher calls out. Students can also make a shape and the other students can copy this shape.

The Alabama High School Athletic Association would like to have everyone involved in sports to complete a sportsmanship course before they are allowed to participate in athletics. But, the events have fans and parents there as well. Either you are attending or playing in the contest. Everyone needs to show good sportsmanship. The course can be found through The National Federation of High Schools. The National Federation of High Schools developed this free course to give you a better understanding of sportsmanship, how it impacts the educational process and identifies your specific role in modeling it at all interscholastic athletic events. Insight is shared throughout the course from fans, players, parents, teacher-coaches, and officials. This course will help provide schools a more positive game environment.

Note: The athlete for a sport will need to complete the course before he/she is eligible to participate.

The article from Referee.com explains the traits of an effective official. You don’t usually, for example, develop a calming influence or become great game managers without learning it somewhere. Officials develop from making mistakes, listening to mentors and supervisors, and going to camps. From those experiences, officials become recognized and noticed in a positive way. You’re not just the official taking assignments for a paycheck, showing up at game time and throwing your shirt on, then blasting out of the arena immediately afterward.
