This will direct you through everything one will need to know about organizing a 5K. This resource describes the process from inception to the finish line and beyond. Many times things can get overlooked during the planning process, especially for first time race directors. This website gives a good overview of all that is necessary to organize a successful run. 

The fact that run/walks are classic fundraising events for nonprofit organizations doesn’t make them any easier to plan and execute. Like any event, attendance and fundraising results are very important, but run/walks involve extra challenges and expenses including marketing, registration, and safety. This guide will walk you through the process of organizing a charity run/walk event for your organization, covering logistics like choosing a date, location, and t-shirts, along with volunteer management, budgeting, and promotion.

In this lesson, students will explore the structure of the World Health Organization (WHO) and its role in the Ebola epidemic in West Africa. Students will be expected to discuss challenges the WHO has faced in responding to the Ebola outbreak. This lesson will culminate with the students creating a poster to help the WHO get more people involved in the effort to stop the Ebola epidemic.

This guide uses biology, health, and world study topics to engage students in global health issues and solutions from experiential and multidisciplinary perspectives. The guide offers an outline of how to organize and host a "Global Health Conference," and provides suggestions regarding logistics and instructions as well as resource materials for preparing and organizing a student conference. The Global Health Conference is a school event where students present display boards and two-page essays on various countries and their health challenges, very much like a science fair.

As a template, the guide can be modified to suit each educator's goals, student needs, and school policies. The guide is designed to involve all students from a single grade level—e.g., all seventh-grade students. However, educators can use pieces from the guide or tailor it to one class or a whole school. It is recommended that each educator adapt this guide to the most appropriate scale for his or her own school environment and policies, student needs, and learning outcomes.

The purpose of this lesson is for students to demonstrate jumping and landing skills. This lesson resource includes station ideas as well as learning cues for the skill of jumping rope. Additionally, this resource includes song titles to go along with the activity of jumping. 

This learning activity allows students to work on their striking skills in a fun, competitive format. This activity resource lists types of striking skills to allow for a natural progression. Although this resource is developed with the skill of striking in mind, this activity could be modified so the focus is on throwing. 

This fun and engaging learning activity focuses on the skill of hand dribbling while moving. This game can be set up to be continuous or can be organized in a competitive manner. This activity also provides a progression modification that makes the activity more challenging. 

This learning activity focuses on long underhand and overhand throws. Before participating in this activity, students should have learned the proper techniques for both the overhand and underhand throw. This game is fun and engaging and can be played in a competitive format. A progression is included for more advanced students. 

This learning activity focuses on the skills of throwing with accuracy and catching with coordination. One group of students is throwing to targets while a different small group of students is protecting the targets from the throws. This activity is short in duration and allows for the game to transition quickly to new rounds. This gives students the opportunity to be both throwers and catchers.  

This learning activity focuses on kicking with power and accuracy. The objective of the game is to kick the ball and knock over the other team's targets. While doing so, students will also be defending their targets by trapping the ball. This game is formatted to be played competitively (team against team), but teachers could modify this game to be a continuous format by having students be responsible to reset the targets. 

This learning activity is great for a warm-up activity, a chasing or fleeing activity, or an activity to practice specific locomotor skills. Additionally, because this game is designed so that students move along lines on the gym floor, this game can also be used to teach pathways and directionality. 

This resource is a series of four cue cards. Teachers can print these cue cards for display in the gymansium or to be used at a station. Teachers could also use these graphics in their own slide show presentations or to be projected during the lesson. 

Many teachers don’t know where to begin with PE activities and what needs to be covered. For healthy physical bodies, agility, balance, and coordination (ABC’s) are three fundamental abilities that need to be developed. These activities include cooperative skills where students must work and engage with other students.

This resource includes activity ideas using graphics and video links. This resource includes a link to purchase more activities, however, this site is free and includes many valuable learning activities. 

The object of the game is for offensive teams to “capture” the corners by throwing their foam balls and knocking a playground ball off of a cone. Defensive teams are assigned to a cone and will work to knock offensive shots away. Students are working to create open space by staying spread on offense, cutting and passing quickly, and using off-the-ball fakes.

This resource is 6 printable station cards focusing on muscular fitness. Each station card gives 2 options for students to choose their challenge. 

This novice mid to novice high German activity introduces students to a variety of online German shopping sites. Students are provided links to a variety of German grocery stores and asked to demonstrate an understanding of written language by gathering information in the target language to create a shopping list. Students are then asked to explore another set of shopping links to look for deals. As they look through these sites they are asked to respond to a specific list of questions to keep them on task. 

This novice mid to novice high German activity allows students to explore an authentic German website as they learn about television programming in Germany. To start with, students compare German television with the television programs available in the US. Students then demonstrate an understanding of simple written language by searching the site to gather specific information based on programs they would like to watch. Finally, students wrap up the activity by identifying the differences between public and private broadcasters in Germany.

This novice-mid to novice-high German activity introduces students to the Inde-Rockband Sportfreunde Stiller. The musicians are big soccer fans and created a song highlighting the few championships that Germany claims. They rewrote the song in 2010 in anticipation of another big win. Students are asked to study both the song and the lyrics to determine the goal of each version of the song. They are provided a copy of the German lyrics and asked to compare the 2006 and 2010 versions to identify differences. Students are also asked to identify the numbers used in the song and write them out to practice numerical vocabulary words. Finally, students examine other key vocabulary words and phrases throughout the authentic text.

In this novice-mid to novice-high German activity, students will explore the Bundesliga website, an authentic resource that provides up-to-date information on the world of German Football, or soccer. Students are first asked to identify key vocabulary words related to sports. Then, using this site, each student reviews the 18 Bundesliga teams and selects one on which to investigate further and prepare a report to share with their peers. 

This novice mid to novice high German activity leads students through an authentic website as they explore topics important to German families. Vocabulary covered in this activity includes gift giving, celebrations, leisure activities, and more. As students search this site, they are guided by an activity guide that asks them to first identify key vocabulary, followed by individual exploration throughout the site to look at topics of personal interest. After exploring on their own for a bit, students are directed to specific sections of the site where they will use their interpretive reading skills to identify and explore perspectives behind family celebrations.

Students identify principles of how young people learn and discuss the ties between sports, civic engagement, and HIV/AIDS prevention. This intermediate low to intermediate mid German activity introduces students to the punk rock band Die Ärzte. Students listen to their song "Westerland." Throughout the song, students are asked to used interpretive listening skills to gather information provided on the attached activity sheet.  Next, they are asked to read the provided German lyrics and use their comprehension skills to answer a set of questions. A list of useful vocabulary is provided to assist with more difficult phrases. Finally, students are asked to present information about their favorite location, following the model presented in the song. The entire student handout is prepared in the target language.

This novice-mid to novice-high German activity gives students an opportunity to see German weather phrases used in context. Students start by exploring an authentic website to gather information about current weather in Germany. An activity page created in the target language is provided to guide students through the activity. After exploring the weather in Germany, they are asked to create a German forecast for their own hometown. 

This novice mid to novice high German activity introduces students to the world of German football or soccer. Students start by examining the lyrics to two popular soccer songs sung by fans, specifically paying attention to adjectives used to describe the teams. Then they try their hand at creating a stanza for their own favorite team. Special emphasis is placed on using plural subjects such as we and they. Afterward, students are asked to compare what they have learned about soccer fans in Germany to sports fans near their home.

This novice-low to novice-high German activity introduces students to an authentic website as they explore the website of one of Germany's insurance companies. Students start by identifying key information on the website such as address and telephone number. They are then directed to the section of the website that deals with prevention and asked to explore the dental information. Finally, they learn to access the medical glossary on the website and use it to explore health-related vocabulary. 

This novice-high to intermediate-low writing activity encourages German students to use an authentic website to write get-well cards to their peers in class. The instructions ask students to select a German card from the site, write an email, and then send it to a friend in class. Those who are novice learners should be sure to write in the present tense and focus on asking how their friend feels and what is going on. Those who have learned to communicate using the past tense can ask what happened or other past-tense questions. 

In this novice-mid to novice-high German activity, students investigate popular German magazines to gather basic information. Students start by choosing one of three authentic resources to explore. They examine the front page of the current magazine and make inferences into who the target audience may be. They then select one article of interest and write a paragraph describing what is occurring (novice low-novice mid) or what happened (novice high-intermediate low). Students finish the activity by sharing their findings with classmates. 

This novice mid to novice high German activity encourages students to listen to an authentic resource as they use interpretive listening skills to gather information about the song's content. Students start with a prelistening activity before listening to the song. Throughout the song, they are asked to complete a cloze activity to help guide them through the lyrics and improve their listening comprehension skills within this mostly present tense song.  Finally, students are encouraged to use vocabulary gained through the previous activities to create their own version of the song as they write about something that is dear to them.
