Then they will work in pairs to learn more about the body mechanisms that cause physiological stress symptoms, such as a fast heartbeat, cold hands, and dry mouth, or even longer-lasting symptoms such as a headache and sleeplessness. Finally, students will discuss their own reactions to stress and understand that many physiological stress reactions are part of the body’s normal functioning. Students will also look at ways of dealing with stress

This classroom resource is a lesson plan for teaching students about healthy eating. The lesson begins with an activity in which students consider two plates of food: one composed of healthy choices and one composed of less healthy choices. Students then learn about the importance of nutrition, watch a video about healthy eating habits, and discuss the role of fruits and vegetables in a healthy diet. Next, students investigate snacks and learn about the difference between "every day" and "sometimes" foods. They watch a video about how to choose healthy snacks and then participate in an activity that challenges them to make healthy choices while preparing a plate of food for a friend. Finally, students learn about where to find both "every day" and "sometimes" foods.

In this activity, students will use a beach ball to practice their volleying skills. Students will volley the ball to themselves and hit it up in the air with an open hand. Students will next volley the ball up in the air, let it bounce on the floor and volley it up again. Students will then volley the ball off of a wall. A tapeline can be added to the wall to make sure it is volleyed high enough up in the air. The next progression of this activity incorporates another student. Volleying the beach ball between two students can now occur, with both students continuing to use proper technique.

In this activity, students are dribbling in free space using the proper cues of the tap and bump technique. Students dribble around the space and try not to get tagged. Students get tagged when the balls from other students collide. If this happens, students hug their ball and spread their legs until one of the untagged students kicks their ball through the open legs of the tagged student. In this activity, students will practice jumping rope starting with making big wheels with their arms first. Students will start by placing their arms out in front of them and making big circles with their arms in a big wheel or "windmill" fashion. This will extend the full ROM of the shoulder joint. Students will then bend their knees each time they see their hands pass their eyes. Students will continue to do this an add a jump to the movement. Students will then get a jump rope that fits them appropriately, by holding the handles and stepping on the middle of the rope. The rope should be between the shoulders and underarms. You can tie knots in the rope if the rope is too long. Students will toss the rope from behind the heels to the front of the body and then jump over the rope (jumping rope).
