Horrendous Soup is a game in which students have to make a recipe for the most disgusting soup they can imagine. Students progress through the game by adding ingredients to the soup. Some of the ingredients are measured in capacity, some are measured in mass, and some are measured in distance. This is a way to reinforce metric conversion skills. To successfully print out the recipe, students must demonstrate the ability to convert the amounts of ingredients to other metric units. For example, liters to milliliters and vice versa, grams to milligrams and vice versa, and millimeters to centimeters to meters.

In this learning activity, students will learn to add or subtract two vectors. The activity will teach the students that they simply add or subtract their components. In other words, add the x component of the first vector to the x component of the second and so on for y and z. The answers the students will get from adding or subtracting the x, y, and z components of their original vectors are the x, y, and z components of their new vector. This learning activity should be used as an introductory activity.

In this interactive math activity from Math is Fun, students are able to "play" with quadrilaterals to get a better understanding of the properties associated with each type of quadrilateral. The interactive creates a visual representation of the properties that describe each type of quadrilateral (parallelogram, square, rectangle, rhombus, trapezoid, and kite). Students can change the angles and sides, but the attributes of the selected quadrilateral will always remain prominent allowing students to easily recognize the properties of each quadrilateral.

This lesson is intended to provide students with an authentic way to use noun-adjective agreement while allowing them to investigate the target language culture. Students will begin by working with a partner or small group to identify the qualities that make a person a leader. Students will then learn how to use a dictionary to look up new words (adjectives/characteristics) of leaders. Ultimately, the students/groups will research leaders from a specified country and identify each leader’s top qualities/characteristics making sure their target language adjectives agree with the person they are describing.

The Length and Measurement Lab will provide students with hands-on experience in measuring the length and mass of objects using the Metric System. During this lab, students will be given a set of manipulatives (colored rods) and asked to find the length in centimeters. Then, they will convert that measurement into millimeters. The final task will require students to use a balance to record the mass in grams of each colored rod.
