In this activity, students will use "Fuzz Bugs - Counting, Sorting, & Comparing" from ABCya that provides a fun and educational interactive game that gives students the opportunity to sort, count, and compare the fuzz bugs. The interactive helps students learn to sort objects by colors, count the objects, then compare the different fuzz bugs.

After students interact with "Fuzz Bugs - Counting, Sorting, & Comparing" from ABCya, students will then collect and organize data about the number and attributes of the "Fuzz Bugs" collected in a Google Sheets template. The Google Sheets template will allow students to tally the number of "Fuzz Bugs" and the cells will turn the color to create a chart of the data collected.

Critical thinking is a relevant skill for today. Prior to this learning activity, students will explore the values of each coin, the dollar bill, and will have been exposed to money word problems. In this learning activity, “Plickers” are used to formatively assess solving money word problems to guide the teacher's next steps. Students will use critical thinking when deciding what operation to use in each money word problem. Students will be able to make real-world connections when adding/subtracting different coins.

In this learning activity, students will learn to add or subtract two vectors. The activity will teach the students that they simply add or subtract their components. In other words, add the x component of the first vector to the x component of the second and so on for y and z. The answers the students will get from adding or subtracting the x, y, and z components of their original vectors are the x, y, and z components of their new vector. This learning activity should be used as an introductory activity.

In this interactive math activity from Math is Fun, students are able to "play" with quadrilaterals to get a better understanding of the properties associated with each type of quadrilateral. The interactive creates a visual representation of the properties that describe each type of quadrilateral (parallelogram, square, rectangle, rhombus, trapezoid, and kite). Students can change the angles and sides, but the attributes of the selected quadrilateral will always remain prominent allowing students to easily recognize the properties of each quadrilateral.

The Length and Measurement Lab will provide students with hands-on experience in measuring the length and mass of objects using the Metric System. During this lab, students will be given a set of manipulatives (colored rods) and asked to find the length in centimeters. Then, they will convert that measurement into millimeters. The final task will require students to use a balance to record the mass in grams of each colored rod.
