Overview

In this learning activity, students complete a Quotation Quick Check to demonstrate their knowledge of punctuation and capitalization and the use of correct mechanics specifically focusing on quotation marks. 

This activity was created as a result of the ALEX Resource Development Summit.

Activity Details

1. Pass out the Quotation Quick Check and have students complete following the directions given. 

2. Teachers will need to create an account for Teachers Pay Teachers to access this assessment. Membership to Teachers Pay Teachers is free. This learning activity is also free to download. Once it is downloaded, it will always show in the teachers' saved purchases.

3. There are ten sentences on the Quotation Quick Check that are missing quotation marks. The students will fill in the correct quotation marks using a different color font for easy grading. Students may choose any color font they wish.

Students can also complete this learning activity digitally. 

Background / Preparation

The teacher will need to download the Quotation Quick Check from the Teachers Pay Teachers website. This is a free resource, but teachers will need to create a free Teachers Pay Teachers account to access the resource.

The Quotation Quick Check will need to be printed out and copies made for the students (one copy for each student).
