Overview

The teacher will use this Google Slides presentation to review each of the text features. Afterward, the students will read an article and identify and label specific text features. For the final assignment, the student will use all that they learned to answer text feature questions about the article they read. 

This activity was created as a result of the ALEX Resource Development Summit.

    Students will identify and interpret text features and explain how illustrations contribute to the meaning of the text. 

    Activity Details

    1. The teacher will open the Text Features Assignment Google Slideshow.
    2. The teacher will then review the text features with the students discussing each one before their final activity.  
    3. The teacher will let the students know that they will be reading the article 'Wild, Wild Weather."
    4. After passing out the article the students will partner up to read and identify text features and illustrations by labeling them on the article.
    5. After the students read and label the article they will answer the questions on the back of the article.
